Site visit of Midleton, Ireland
in 2023 Storm "Babet" brought torrential rainfall to the south of Ireland with over 100 mm of rainfall experienced over a two-day period. Extensive flooding occurred impacting an estimated 389 homes and 285 businesses in Midleton with damage estimated at in excess of €100 million.

2025
Transnational Exercise on mobile barriers, Utrecht, Netherlands
In November 2025 the FlashFloodBreaker partners gathered in Utrecht (NL) to take part in a two day exercise organized by our host organization STOWA. This was part of the week long Cloudburst scenario, where dutch waterboards and dutch military were involved. Especially in the main areas we´ve been training (mobile barriers, sandbag science and levee guarding) substantial learnings have been made.

Site Visit in Moelingen/Voeren, Flanders
In recent years the village of Moelingen (Voeren) has been hit 3 times very hard by flash floods. Each flood caused severe damage and each time it became worse, making that during the 2024 flood the village was almost completely inundated.
Our partner VMM invited the FlashFloodBreaker partnership to testify the current efforts, including the encouragement of inhabitants to protect themselves and their houses with flood barriers, both encouraging financially and by providing support in the execution of the works.
2024
Transnational Flood responsive training
The Duisburg Firebrigade invited partners from the FlashFloodBreaker Project to take part in the joint flood response activities on the shores of the river Rhine. Together with members of the German armed forces and the Technisches Hilfswerk, Firebrigades from Germany, The Netherlands and France as well as representatives from local and international waterboards shared training schemes, tools and experiences where showcased in the field.
